Pet tales and the daily adventures of our children who wear fur coats - our beloved pets.
Leiden Olivia - The Princess
Hi, I'm Leiden Olivia and I am The Princess. I truly believe that I am the only dog at the Hoyt-Allen home. My mother Peggy wished for me and I appeared. One day she decided she wanted what she calls a "holding dog." Since one of her friends had Papillons she decided that would be the right breed - not too small, not too big, easy to care for. She told all her friends exactly what she was looking for. She contacted several Papillon rescue groups. One told her No, because they didn't adopt to multiple dog households (?) - I don't get that one. The other couldn't seem to find just the right match.
Then, one day when she was having lunch with a friend and re-telling the story of looking for me, a really nice lady came over to the table and said, "I have your dog." That's how I ended up with Peggy and Joe. At first, I didn't really like Joe all that much. I had a mean daddy once and I just don't trust men. But, that was a long time ago and now we get along fine, except if he raises his voice and then I have to yell at him and tell him to be quiet.
My mom takes me to work every single day - almost. I hate it when I have to stay home alone. She travels a lot too so sometimes I have to stay home with my dad. He lets me sleep in the bed so I curl up right in my mom's place to make sure no one else sleeps there but her.
I have lots of sisters but I don't like any of them. In fact, I don't like dogs at all. Sometimes I tolerate them but mostly I just ignore them. Sometimes I have to "bite" them.
I have a big job protecting my mom. If she's in her office working and someone comes in, I let them know in a big hurry they better not hurt her. I'm really not much of a threat though because I had a lot of my teeth pulled. Even though I try to take good care of them, they still needed to be pulled when I had them cleaned.
Recently I had to have bladder surgery. They removed six bladder stones the size of marbles! Boy was I in pain. I'm much better now, thanks to Dr. Griffith and all the nice folks at Lake Jessup Animal Hospital. I don't like to go there, but they take good care of me.
